Today Emily had a Christmas celebration at her Chattanooga home.
Steve, Pat, Meredith, and Patrick were there. Alan and Lynn, and Mia and Clyde joined them for a late breakfast. Pat made her traditional Christmas Breakfast Casserole, accompanied by freshly made Honey Nut Stollen, a great variety of Krispy Kreme Donuts (Krispy Kreme is just down the road!), bacon, and Fried Apple Pies made with apples from the apple tree in Pat's Mom's back yard.
After brunch, everyone sat around and visited, napped and talked. By mid afternoon the kitchen was buzzing again as the women were putting together the late afternoon feast for Christmas dinner. By that time Alan had gone to get Mommy Anne and Liga and Valdis had joined the fun. The kids had great fun playing Nertz again in the afternoon, while the adults swapped stories and visited.
It was a lovely day...a day when everyone sorely missed Gene, but were keenly aware of the great blessing to have had him as husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather...
